I’m sure there are a lot of people out there who want to know how to be a better artist. Not many know though that there are many different forms of art and one of those is digital art. In digital art, creativity is still as crucial in designing, its not just polishing. Don’t just imitate similar styles that you see all the time, make a style that you are truly excited about. Originality is a key component that editors, like myself, believe is essential to the look of any piece. The amount of different possibilities in photoshop are inconceivably huge.

Let’s start with the basics: When working in Photoshop is is important you know how to use the quick selection tool. This tool is important because it helps you cut the subject out from the background so it’s on its own layer. Once you do this, there are many filters and adjustments you can make to the background. They include making it black and white or applying a type of blur.

As you understand the necessity of those basic tools, you can use some of the brushes that add effects to your edits and make them look really neat. There is a brush for basically everything. The website I use is called BrushEasy. It gives you an array of options for brushes and effects. My personally favorite type of brushes are star brushes.

If you want to get more information on photoshop you can find a lot on YouTube as well. Instructional videos can help you decide what path you take in your piece, and they can also help you decide which type of editing you like the best. I hope I gave you guys a good start, and that you will try photoshop because to me it is really fun and you can only get better and better. Also, if you want to check out a sample of my work from last year, it is located on the back of the assignment notebook. I took the picture of last year’s Girls basketball team when they won the regional championship and edited it.
